Looking for a skilled role with stability and growth potential? The Commercial Service Technician at Pilot Company could be the opportunity you’ve been seeking. This full-time position offers the advantage of weekly pay, robust benefits including 401(k) with match, medical, dental, vision, paid time off, and no weekend or on-call hours. Compensation is further enhanced by an annual performance-based bonus structure.

Working as a Commercial Service Technician here, you’ll be dispatched straight from home. Tools, a company vehicle, and the latest tech for diagnostics are provided, making your job smoother and more efficient. The work schedule is structured, spanning 45–50+ hours per week, and you are even compensated for drive time between jobs (port to port pay).

Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Your core focus will be maintaining and repairing HVAC/R systems, commercial cooking equipment, fuel dispensers, plumbing, and electrical systems across multiple locations. Each day, you’ll troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair or replace parts as needed according to industry and warranty standards.

You’re expected to complete thorough work order notes daily and keep supervisors and management informed of job progress. Responsibilities include monitoring inventory levels on your vehicle, keeping equipment and uniforms up to standard, and following all safety policies.

Training is provided for fuel dispenser repairs and fuel security systems. You’ll also perform routine preventive maintenance on everything from HVAC units to fryers, ensuring equipment reliability for the stores you support.

Compliance matters too. Adhering to OSHA and company-specific safety guidelines is crucial in this hands-on role. A positive customer service attitude and the ability to work with various teams help guarantee a seamless guest and partner experience.

Pros: Benefits and Work-Life Balance

One of the strongest perks is the absence of weekend and on-call shifts, letting you plan your personal life with confidence. Weekly pay makes budgeting easier, and company-matched retirement savings add to your long-term security.

The company covers your travel tools and uniforms (with boot and apparel reimbursement), plus all required training and safety gear. Health, dental, and vision options, paid time off, and fuel discounts make the overall compensation package highly competitive for the field.

Advancement opportunities are visible due to Pilot’s large scope and nationwide presence, plus their commitment to internal promotion and professional development.

Cons: Job Challenges

While there are many advantages, the position isn’t light physical work. You’ll regularly lift up to 50 pounds and work in all weather conditions, sometimes in tight or awkward spaces.

The need for strong self-management is high since you’ll often operate independently. Managing time efficiently while meeting high standards and maintaining positive customer relations can be demanding.

Verdict

For experienced commercial service technicians eager for stability, fair compensation, and a focus on work-life balance, this role offers more advantages than drawbacks. The benefit package, structured schedule, and absence of on-call requirements separate this job from most in the field. This is a solid move for skilled candidates ready to commit to a respected employer in the travel center industry.
